I added some roads for the trolley loop at Ashmont, still needs work.
I also found this picture of Sturtevant Mill Co. In real life it did not have a rail spur and was located a few blocks from where the industrial area was, but I figured I could use modelers license.
This is a blog about my current model railroad project, to design and build a small 10' x 12' layout modeling the NHRR Milton Branch and the MTA Mattapan trolley line. Use the tabs below to view the introduction and background.

Track Plan
Above is the track plan from 3rd Planit. If you are familiar with the real Mattapan trolley, I don't model the Ashmont Terminal with its rapid transit, instead I will have it looping around a square to provide a modicum of street running. The parallel tracks at the bottom represent the Old Colony main. The industries at the right are reached via an underpass so the track will descend under the Old Colony main. I haven't worked out all the grades yet, I hope eventually to do a 3-D version of the plan. The trolley terminal and yard is fairly true to prototype (thanks to a 1961 MTA track map) although it is the mirror image, I flipped it so that the track would come in at the back.
